About Us

Green Event Shop was started by Nan Leuschel and John Oppedahl in February of 2008. Besides having an entrepreneurial interest in a new business, we would like to do a small part to advance the green movement and address global warming through the practical steps of increasing the number of consumer products made from sustainable and renewable resources while at the same time reducing the amount of post-consumer material that goes into landfills.

Nan is a native of Washington State who now lives in San Francisco. A graduate of Stanford, she has worked as an advisor to political campaigns, as an editor for union publications and, most recently, as a public policy consultant on various land-use issues throughout the Bay Area and other parts of California.

John, a native of Minnesota, who also lives in San Francisco,  is a graduate of Berkeley and Columbia and has worked in the newspaper business as an editor and publisher and, most recently, as a management and strategy consultant.
